 We're pumped.

It is now less than two short weeks until our party at the Frequency. This is going to be a good one, folks. It's always a pleasure to play a nice downtown venue like the Frequency on a Friday night in the summer. This time it's extra special because we'll be sharing the stage with one of our favorite local bands, Grupo Balanca. If you haven't heard their awesome brand of Brazilian pagode music, do yourself a favor and come check it out. You can thank us later.

So now you know. Friday, May 18 at the Frequency. Things start getting hot at 9pm.

 Hey everyone,

We had a great time at Red Dragon TV on Friday, and we hope you had fun listening! Red Dragon is a cool internet-based program, 100% local and independent. Check it out! Thanks to everyone who put the show on, and thanks to everyone who came out to listen or streamed it online. Ari John, host of Red Dragon, was nice enough to write up a review of the show. We've added it to our press page.

Again, voting for the final round of the MAMAs ends on May 15. If you voted in the first round, you don't have to pay to vote in this round. If you didn't vote yet, your $5 donation will help the Madison Area Music Association. We live in a great city!

If you missed it, our entire performance from last Friday is available online. Cheers!

Howdy everyone! We hope you've been well. We have a few things on the burners that we'd like to tell you about.

First, our usual Thursday night gig at the Great Dane is ON for tonight! We start at 10 and don't stop until the dance floor is clear. It's always a good time at the Dane, so we hope you can make it!

We will also be appearing on Red Dragon TV on Friday, April 20. Between 7 and 9pm, we will be doing some live performances interspersed with interview segments. This is part of a program put on by the MAMAs and Local Sounds featuring artists who have been nominated for a MAMA award. There is room for 20 or 30 people in the studio, and we'd love to see you there! It's located at 109 E Lakeside St in Madison, right by John Nolen Drive. Otherwise, you can catch the stream at Red Dragon's website.

And speaking of the MAMAs, voting for the second round ends May 15. Go here to vote. It involves a $5 donation, but the money all ends up helping kids. We're up for a few categories, including Pop/R&B album, blues and unique songs, and several individual musician awards. Thanks for getting us this far!

Keep it loud,
TBP

Big thanks to everyone who voted us into the finals for the MAMAs. We've advanced in Best Blues, Jazz, and Unique Songs, Pop and R&B album,  and Rock Performer. Additionally, Dave's up for best woodwinds, Jamie and Charley are up for best brass, Ben's up for best keyboardist, and Jeff for best bassist! One more round to go!

3-15-12

Spring is here! Actually, we might be skipping spring in Mad Town and going straight to the good stuff. 70's all week? We can live with that.

Today is the last day to vote in the MAMAs! Show us some love, and give support to the current and future musicians in the local scene. We'll pay you back!

Much love,
TBP

Hello to all our new fans! We're getting new followers on Facebook and Twitter everyday, and your support is awesome!

Most Madisonians are familiar with the Madison Area Music Awards, or MAMAs. It's sort of like the Grammys for Madison artists (except that it actually matters)! We are up for several categories this year, including Artist of the Year, Pop/R&B album, and female vocalist. Please take a second to vote for us on the MAMAs website! It is $5 to vote, and all your money directly benefits music education in Wisconsin!

We're playing at the downtown Great Dane again on Thursday! This will be 100% original members of The Big Payback. We've been lucky to have some awesome subs at recent gigs, but there's just something about the original lineup that feels right. See you there!

2-5-12

Thank you to everyone who made it to any of our several gigs over the last few weeks. As expected with a band comprised of 9 busy people, our schedules have been chaotic, several substitute players filled in for our regulars (and did an awesome job), and rehearsal time has been minimal to non-existent. But these last couple gigs have given us opportunities to try out some new original songs and play some covers we haven't done before. Some of it worked and some of it didn't, but overall we're pressing onwards and we're glad to have your support!

The next gig is February 23 at the Dane again. Until then, keep it real.

It was great to play for the Launchpad fundraiser last night! Thanks to the other musicians, the High-Noon Saloon, and everyone who came out and supported this great program.

We had a rehearsal today to learn some new material and brush off some cobwebs, because we have more shows coming right up! The first one is at the downtown Great Dane in Madison this Thursday, January 26 at 10pm. There is no cover charge! Check the Facebook event page.

It's time for the first Big Payback show of the new year! We're excited about this one because it's a fundraiser for Launchpad, an awesome program for Wisconsin high school students to explore music outside of normal school activities.

The gig is at the High-Noon Saloon this Saturday, starting at 9:00. The Payback will finish the evening, hitting the stage around 11:30. Performing before us are Super Irie & the Rockstones, Sam Lyons, Beth Kille, and Dr. Funkenstein. 21+, $5 suggested donation. We hope to see you there!

Happy 2012! Hope everyone had an awesome New Years. The Payback is still in holiday mode- some of us are out of town, some of us are out of the country, and some of us are just out. But we will soon be gearing up for our upcoming High Noon gig. 18 days to go. Bring it on, 2012!
